Siyempre (masaya), parang La Salle pa rin ‘yung feeling kasi hindi mo na maaalis ‘yun parang it runs in the blood ‘yung pagiging La Sallian namin, I’m home -- Ara Galang
After her 78th UAAP conquest, Ara Galang will continue her quest for honor and glory with the same De La Salle crew in the biggest stage in Philippine volleyball.
The 22-year-old hitter was reunited with her De La Salle teammates as F2 Logistics picked Galang as the top overall pick in the 2016 Philippine Super Liga Rookie Draf at the Mall of Asia Music Hall Friday.
She’ll see action in the club league with the championship core of the Lady Spikers including Mika Reyes, Cyd Demecillo, Kim Fajardo, Kim Dy and Dawn Macandili. It will also serve as a reunion with former DLSU stars Aby Marano, Stephanie Mercado and Cha Cruz.
It was as if she never left home.
“Siyempre (masaya), parang La Salle pa rin ‘yung feeling kasi hindi mo na maaalis ‘yun parang it runs in the blood ‘yung pagiging La Sallian namin, I’m home,” said Galang, who was instrumental in taking the UAAP title back to Taft Avenue in a grueling best-of-three series decider with archrival Ateneo de Manila.
“Syempre happy ako na sila ang teammates ko, nakasama ko na sila dati parang ico-continue lang namin ang ‘yung mga dati na bonding,” added Galang, who was at first undecided whether to join the Draft due to her studies and knee injury.
Galang said that she didn’t want to pass on an opportunity to play in a high level competition where she can gauge her own skills and improve more.
“Ako, honestly, iniisip ko kung paano ko ii-improve ‘yung sarili ko, kung paano ang magiging contribution ko for the team and kung paano ba ako magpapakundisyon sa sarili ko and paano ko i-a-angat ang sarili ko,” she said.
F2 Logistics was able to acquire Galang after RC Cola-Army passed on its top pick.
