The road to the BVR national championship for Alexa Micek and Charo Soriano came to an unfortunate end.
In the end, nobody really stopped the powerful tandem of Alexa Micek and Charo Soriano.
Unfortunately for the BVR's power couple, their perfect run in the Beach Volleyball Republic on Tour national finals came to an end due to unexpected circumstances.
The four-time leg champions had to medically forfeit their semifinal match against Jennifer Cosas and Floremel Rodriguez of Team Negros after Micek was unable to continue in the third set.
Micek started vomiting and was taken off the sand courts before she was brought to the hospital.
She suffered a mild concussion due to a head-on collision with one of the A-boards after a dive for the loose ball.
Mild concussion. Won't be able to continue competing. I think my heart hurts more than my head 😔. Cheering for the girls still in it!— Alexa Micek (@alexamicek) May 28, 2016
The good news is Micek looks to be okay.
After their forfeit, Soriano and Micek were relegated to the battle for third place against Coyah Abanto and Judy Caballejo of Team Air Force, however, Alexa will not be able to suit up.
Micek is still under observation for her concussion but she did make it back to the MOA sand courts to watch the rest of thr BVR on tour finals.
