Philippine Air Force looks to extend its winning streak to three for a share of the lead.
Philippine Air Force sets its sights on a share of the lead on Monday when the Jet Spikers take on University of the Philippines Lady Maroons in the 13th V-League at The Arena in San Juan.
Sitting behind league-leading Pocari Sweat (3-0), the Jet Spikers are on a lookout for a third straight win in as many outings.
Behind the balanced scoring of their veterans, Air Force easily demolished provincial team Baguio, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18, last Saturday for a fitting follow up to its four-set victory over title-favorite Bali Pure a week ago.
Joy Cases scored 12 points to lead the Jet Spikers, who will march in the 4:00 p.m. match that will air over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague with a mission to put the Lady Maroons in their list of victims.
Air Force head Jasper Jimenez hopes that their experience and seasoned players like Cases, Judy Ann Caballejo, May Ann Pantino, Jocemer Tapic and Wendy Semana as well as new recruit 6-foot-3 Dell Palomata will provide the spark needed to bag another win.
But Jimenez said that facing the Lady Maroons is surely a difficult task. They need to get the momentum early.
“Bata ‘yun kapag nagkaroon ng kompiyansa ‘yun e lalaban talaga ‘yun,” he said. “Very competitive ang team na ‘yun kaya hindi pwedeng pakompiyansa dyan. Lahat ng games dapat pagtrabahuhan.”
UP is raring to bounce back after a straight sets beating at the hands of Pocari Sweat last May 28.
Nicole Tiamzon, Katy Bersola, 78th UAAP Rookie of the Year Isa Molde, Marian Buitre and Diana Carlos need to get their acts together to avoid another setback.
