Pocari Sweat kept its unbeaten record intact and secured at least a semifinals seat playoff.
Pocari Sweat gave Baguio a 69 minute volleyball clinic sans Michele Gumabao and Myla Pablo in a 25-18, 25-17, 25-15 beating Saturday as the Lady Warriors extended their winning run to four and secured at least a semis spot playoff in the 13th V-League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Rossan Fajardo and Maricar Nepomuceno stepped up with Gumabao and Pablo spending the duration of the match sitting on their bench because of injuries.
Fajardo finished with 15 points with 11 coming off attacks and four from service aces to lead Pocari Sweat to a 4-0 win-loss record on top of the standings. Fajardo also contributed on defense with 10 digs.
Napomuceno had 12 while Elaine Kasilag registered nine for the Lady Warriors.
Gumabao suffered an abdominal rupture while Pablo went down with a back injury during training and were advised to rest. There is no time frame on their return as they are expected to undergo medical tests on Wednesday.
“Though malaking kawalan sina Michele at Myla, kampante. I know and I believe sa mga players namin na kinuha sa team namin, na they are all capable na gampanan yung role ng kung sino man ang wala sa team namin,” said assistant coach Rommel Abella.
Gyselle Sy had a superb playmaking outing, dishing out 37 of the total 41 excellent sets made by the Lady Warriors.
The Summer Spikers went deeper down the cellar with a 0-4 record and are now in danger of getting eliminated in the semifinals race.
Krissian Tsuchiya scored seven points while Nicole Guyguyon finished with five for Baguio.
