Undefeated Pocari Sweat faces a big challenge when they cross paths with BaliPure.
Titans clash as powerhouse teams BaliPure Purest Water Defenders and unbeaten Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors collide Saturday in the 13th V-League Open Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
With both teams already assured of seats in the best-of-three semifinals, the 6:00 p.m. main match will put the two squads pride at stake as well as a chance to finish with a good position heading into the next round.
The match will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague.
Pocari Sweat parades a clean sheet after five games to remain on top of the standings while BaliPure and idle Philippine Air Force share the second to third spots with 5-1 slate.
Expected to return for the Lady Warriors are top hitters Myla Pablo and Michele Gumabao after missing Pocari Sweat’s last two games due to injuries. Pablo suffered a back injury while Gumabao was sidelined because of an abdominal strain and were advised to rest for two weeks.
Even without the “Smash Sisters” the Lady Warriors still managed to keep their pristine record intact as Elaine Kasilag, Rosann Fajardo, Maricar Nepomuceno and Lutgarda Malaluan stepped up.
Pocari Sweat defeated Iriga, 25-16, 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, a week ago.
BaliPure is coming off an easy 25-18, 25-14, 25-18, win over Baguio Summer Spikers last Wednesday for a five-game winning streak.
Three-time UAAP MVP Alyssa Valdez and back-to-back NCAA MVP Grethcel Soltones, who are averaging 18 points and 22.75 points per game, respectively, will serve as the main weapons of the Water Defenders against the gunners of Pocari Sweat.
The Lady Warriors will end the eliminations on Monday against Air Force.
