Cignal sweeps Spikers' Turf elims
Cignal brings a huge momentum heading into the semifinals.

Cignal completed a clean sweep of the five-game eliminations with a rout of the same team the HD Spikers will take on in the semifinals on Wednesday.

De La Salle star Raymark Woo showcased his attacking prowess by drilling in 13 kills in his total of 14 points to lead the HD Spikers past Sta. Elena Construction Wrecking Balls, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21, Monday to cap the 2nd Spikers’ Turf Open Conference elims at The PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

It took Cignal only 75 minutes to dispose the Wrecking Balls, whose two-game winning streak ended, which the men of head coach Michael Carino will meet once again in the best-of-three semifinals.

Lorenzo Capate scored nine points while Ysay Marasigan had eight as Cignal continued to run on the right track in their bid to win their second straight title since capturing the inaugural Reinforced Conference crown.

Berlin Paglinawan finished with 11 for Sta. Elena.      

Meanwhile, Philippine Air Force will carry a big momentum heading to the next round after downing Instituto Estetico Manila, 25-17, 26-24, 25-23, in a sneak peek of their semis showdown.

Rodolfo Labrador powered the Airmen with 13 points he collected from 11 spikes and a pair of kill blocks while Howard Mojica and Fauzi Ismail added 11 and 10 markers, respectively, as Air Force finished the elims with a 4-1 record.

The Phoenix Volley Masters absorbed their second straight loss in five games to end up as third seed.
