Rachel Anne Daquis of Rc Cola-Army suffered a artial plantar aponeurotic tear on her left heel.
RC Cola-Army outside hitter Rachel Anne Daquis sustained a partial plantar aponeurotic tear on her left heel based on the initial findings Friday morning.
“Based sa ultrasound mukhang may partial plantar aponeurotic tear si Rachel,” according to Lady Troopers’ physical therapist Alyssa Tomas.
Daquis suffered the injury Thursday night midway in the opening set of RC Cola-Army’s 25-18, 15-25, 17-25, 25-23, 9-15, loss to Foton Tornadoes in Group A second round preliminary stage of the 2016 Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at De La Salle-Lipa Sentrum in Lipa City, Batangas.
“In-advise siya ni doc Isagani Leal na mag-MRI today to see the degree of injury,” said Tomas.
Known for her trademark hop-skip approach for an attack, Daquis said that she felt something “pop” as she jumped. The 2015 PSL All-Filipino Conference Most Valuable Player walked off the court limping and never came back to the game, watching from the sidelines as Army absorbed its third straight loss.
The 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship-bound hitter said in an interview Thursday that she’s already experiencing pain on her heel since last Saturday.
Daquis is still awaiting her MRI result at the Center for Musculoskelatal Science-Asia in Quezon City as of posting.
The result will determine if Daquis will need to sit out a couple of games.
“We will still need to do the MRI first then doon pa malalaman anong gagawin kay Rachel,” said Tomas. “Kapag may punit, two weeks lang siya masa-sideline. Kapag wala, pwedeng active rest lang.”
