Lady Stags face Lady Altas in SVL Collegiate League opener
NCAA back-to-back Most Valuable Player Grethcel Soltones (No. 5) will try to steer San Sebastian to a V-League title.

San Sebastian College and University of Perpetual Help clash in an early duel of NCAA teams on Saturday to open their campaign in Group A of the 13th V-League Collegiate Conference on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Bitter rivals in the NCAA, the Lady Stags and Lady Altas face off in the main game set at 6:00 p.m. and will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague.

NCAA back-to-back Most Valuable Player and Open Conference MVP Grethcel Soltones will try to lead SSC-R’s campaign together with BaliPure teammate libero Alyssa Eroa, Katherine Villegas and Nikka Dalisay.

The Lady Stags won two V-League titles back in Season 5 second conference and in Season 9 Open Conference as SSC-R-Sandugo.

Perpetual is looking for its first title in the league. The Lady Altas’ best finish was when they landed at fourth place in Season 9 first conference.  

Lourdes Clemente, Jam Suyat and Coleen Bravo will be in the forefront of the Sammy Acaylar-mentored squad’s march.  

The 10 participating teams are divided in to two brackets with NCAA Season 91 champion College of St. Benilde, Far Eastern U, San Beda, University of Sto. Tomas and UP bunched in Group B. In Group A are the defending champion National University, San Sebastian, Ateneo de Manila, Perpetual Help and Technological Institute of the Philippines.

Each group will go through a single round robin eliminations where the top three teams in each bracket will advance in the quarterfinals.

The six qualified teams will play one round provided that they will no longer play the teams in their preliminary round groupings. The win-loss records of the teams in the prelims will be carried over in the quarters.

The best four teams of the quarters will qualify for the Final Four which is a best-of-three series. The Finals is also a best-of-three affair.
