Jeanette Panaga is expected to carry College of St. Benilde in their match against Far Eastern University.
NCAA champion College of St. Benilde face an early acid test in Far Eastern University on Monday in Group B preliminary round of the 13th V-League Collegiate Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Known for their airtight net defense that proved effective as the Lady Blazers captured its first NCAA crown against the then thrice-to-beat San Sebastian Lady Stags, CSB battles UAAP powerhouse Lady Tamaraws in the 4:00 p.m. joust.
The game will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague.
The Taft-based squad will still have starting setter Djanel Cheng and hitter Janine Navarro with NCAA Season 91 Best Blocker and Finals Most Valuable Player Jeanette Panaga and Ranya Musa. Cheng and Navarro both graduated last season but will still play albeit in limited minutes to give more playing time to players that will see action in the next NCAA season.
Meanwhile, FEU lost only setter Gyselle Sy after UAAP Season 78.
Power-hitter Bernadeth Pons, Toni Basas, Jerili Malabanan, Remy Palma and Heather Guino-o are still with the team making the Lady Tams as on of the top title contenders.
FEU last won a title in the V-League back in Season 11 first conference while CSB’s best finish was at sixth place in Season 6 second conference.
