Michelle Morente is back for the Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles.
Returning Michelle Morente and Ana Gopico will once again see action for Ateneo de Manila University on Monday when the Lady Eagles test their chemistry sans Alyssa Valdez against Technological Institute of the Philippines in Group A preliminary round of the 13th V-League Collegiate Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Game time is at 6:00 p.m. and will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague.
San Sebastian leads the group after its easy opening day win over Perpetual Help last Saturday.
After three-time Most Valuable Player Valdez’s swan song in the UAAP, the Lady Eagles lost its biggest star and are now looking to adjust on its offense.
The return of Morente, who was removed from the lineup last season because of academic problems, and Gopico, who last saw action midway in UAAP Season 76, could fill the scoring void left by Valdez. The duo helped Ateneo pocket the bronze medal in thw ASEAN University Games in Singapore recently.
Valdez will be missing a few games including this one because of prior commitments and the former Queen Eagle is expected to see minimal playing time if she’s available as head coach Tai Bundit will be giving more minutes to his wards that will see action in the 79th UAAP.
Ateneo also has in its arsenal middle blocker Bea De Leon, setter Jia Morado and Valdez’s heir apparent Jho Maraguinot.
The Lady Engineers, meanwhile, are on its second stint in the conference and are hoping to improve on their 11th place finish last year.
TIP tapped seasoned playmaker Chie Saet and Mylene Paat, who both played for Laoag in the Open Conference, as guest players.
