National University tries to start a winning run in face off with Technological Institute of the Philippines.

Defending champion National University gets an acid test against upset-conscious Technological Institute of the Philippines on Monday in Group A of the 13th V-League Collegiate Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Engineers take center court in the 4:00 p.m. match that will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream on

Behind the 27-point explosion of 6-foot-5 Jaja Santiago, NU easily dismantled San Sebastian College, 25-22, 29-27, 25-21, last Wednesday for a 1-0 record.

Jasmin Nabor orchestrated the Lady Bulldogs’ fluid offensive flow with 50 excellent sets and is again expected to lead NU’s offense with Aiko Urdas, Audrey Paran and the possible return to action of Jorelle Singh.

The Lady Engineers, first time participants in the conference, engineered a huge upset in their opening game by shooting down the Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles, 26-24, 14-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-12, last week.

The Lady Bulldogs know that the win boosted the confidence of TIP and they need to keep their guard up to avoid getting hacked by an upset ax.

“Focus pa rin kami at all out kasi kahit sino naman ang kalaban every game, 100% pa rin naman. Walang kompiyansa pa rin,” said NU assistant coach Edjet Mabbayad.

TIP will bank on guest player Mylene Paat, who scored 14 points against Ateneo, setter Chie Saet and mainstay Eunice Mabayao.
