F2 Logistics libero Macandili stands tall with MVP award
Nagulat ako kasi hindi nga naman usually nagiging MVP ang libero pero nakakatuwa na ako ‘yung pinarangalan ng MVP this PSL (conference) -- Dawn Macandili of F2 Logistics

F2 Logistics libero Dawn Macandili stood tall among the biggest stars in the 2016 Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference as the pint-sized defense specialist bagged the Most Valuable Player award because of her huge role in the Cargo Movers’ championship run.

The 5-foot De La Salle Lady Spikers star libero was the catalyst of the Cargo Movers’ transition plays the whole conference and her role in the best-of-three Finals series gave F2 Logistics its first-ever title in the league at the expense of the Foton Tornadoes.

“Nagulat ako kasi hindi nga naman usually nagiging MVP ang libero pero nakakatuwa na ako ‘yung pinarangalan ng MVP this PSL (conference),” said the Tanauan, Batangas native after receiving the Best Libero and MVP award Wednesday night after F2 Logistics downed Foton, 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-19, in Game 3 at the jam-packed The Arena in San Juan.

"Siguro blessing ito (MVP award) para sa mga libero at sa mga katulad ko na hindi blessed sa height," she added.

Macandili, who also won Best Libero in the 78th UAAP season when DLSU dethroned Ateneo de Manila, made history by becoming the first time non-scoring MVP. Other past winners were known scorers in Venus Bernal (2013 Invitational Conference), Wanitchaya Luangtonglang (2013 Grand Prix), Rachel Anne Daquis (2014, 2015 All Filipino), Alaina Bergsma (2014 Grand Prix) and Lindsay Stalzer (2015 Grand Prix).

“Medyo (nagulat) kasi bihira ang nagiging MVP na libero hindi in-expect na siya magi-MVP,” said Cargo Movers coach Ramil de Jesus.

“Sa akin naman saludo naman ako kay Dawn kahit anong mangyari, hindi ko lang sinasabi sa kanila na ‘ang galing-galing mo na’ hindi nila naririnig sa akin ‘yun,” he added. “Pero in my side talaga happy ako para sa kanya sa nangyayari sa kanya ngayon and then sa improvement ng nilalaro niya ngayon as a player as a libero.”
