Morente confident Lady Eagles can fly high without Alyssa

Michelle Morente is confident about the new batch of Lady Eagles.
The 13th V-League Collegiate Conference is some unfamilliar territory for these Lady Eagles.
Because Ateneo not only entered the Final Four via playoff, the Lady Eagles for one are no longer the top seeds.
That distinction now belong to the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, a team the Lady Eagles have to hurdle to make a return trip to the finals.
The same FEU team that dominated Ateneo in a sweep during their last meeting.
However, entering their semifinal series starting Monday, the Lady Eagles are banking on the momentum brought about by their impressive three-set win against San Sebastian in the playoff to decide which team advances.
Ateneo is hoping its morale-boosting win can carry over into an upset.
Wait, the Lady Eagles are the ones talking about an upset? Told you this is some unfamilliar territory for the Big Bad Blue.
"Sana madala namin yung confidence na na-gain namin today [vs. the Lady Stags]," veteran Michelle Morente said who serves as team captain for the Alyssa Valdez-less Ateneo in the V-League.
"Kasi as you can see naman FEU is a really good team. Sana kung ano yung nagawa namin today madala namin," she added.
Looking past the Lady Tamaraws and into the future where a Phenom no longer patrols the sky for Ateneo, Morente is confident that the current batch of Lady Eagles have more than enough to deliver results that would meet the standard of greatness the Valdez-era has produced.
"Basta magtulungan lang sila sa loob ng court. Gawin lang nila yung mga pinapagawa no coach Tai, I think mas magi-improve pa yung team," Morente said.
"Mas malayo pa yun mararating ng team," she added.
