Alyssa Valdez will be watching the Lady Eagles try to win a title without her.
In their first major tournament without Alyssa Valdez, the Ateneo Lady Eagles are in the finals with a perfect opportunity to win a championship.
And for the young Lady Eagles, winning a title without the three-time UAAP MVP is serious business as it's a way to prove that there is life after the Phenom.
"Yun yung number one mission dito eh," assistant coach Sherwin Meneses said on Ateneo's V-League stint.
"Yung maka-move on na wala si Alyssa, kaya hindi na pinalaro si Alyssa," he added.
While fans of the Phenom may not like the sound of Alyssa moving on from Ateneo and vice versa, they can take solace in the fact that Valdez is leaving the team in good hands.
A finals appearance in their first major league is proof of that.
"Ganun naman sa UAAP kapag may nawala, kailangan mo lang talaga mag-sipag para makabawi agad," Meneses said.
"Kasi kapag hindi ka nag-move on dun sa nawala sa inyo, lalo na kay Alyssa kapag di sila nag-move on, eh mahirap manalo," he added.
The Lady Eagles go for their first title in the post-Alyssa era starting on Monday against the defending champions NU Lady Bulldogs.
