Rosemarie Vargas is and will remain a Pocari Sweat Lady Warrior until the end of the Reinforced Conference -- Pocari Sweat team manager Eric Ty

Former Far Eastern University standout Rosemarie Vargas will remain with the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors for the 13th V-League Reinforced Conference that will open on Oct. 1.

Pocari Sweat team manager lawyer Eric Anthony Ty told ABS-CBN Sports that Vargas is still under contract with the reigning Open Conference champion Lady Warriors.

“Rosemarie Vargas is and will remain a Pocari Sweat Lady Warrior until the end of the Reinforced Conference,” said Ty Wednesday night during the pre-conference photo shoot.  “She is under contract, she has a written contract with us.”

Vargas reportedly transferred to the Bureau of Customs to join former Ateneo de Manila star Alyssa Valdez.

Ty admitted that Customs did request a transfer for the hitter but the Pocari Sweat team management denied the release of Vargas.

“So I do not know where the rumors are coming from that she is part of the Customs Transformers,” he said. “We are the team that gives written contracts to our players and we expect our players to adhere to their contract.”

Vargas saw limited playing time during Pocari Sweat’s maiden campaign in the league as a backup.

The player has yet to show up in team practice as the Lady Warriors prepare for the season-ending, import-laden conference.

“Hindi pa siya nakakapag-practice with us kasi we have to sort it out 'yung mga rumors na nasa Customs siya pero she will start practicing tomorrow (with us) officially,” said Ty.

Pocari Sweat is an early favorite for the title as the Lady Warriors’ core remains intact led by Open Conference Finals MVP Myla Pablo, Michele Gumabao, libero Melissa Gohing, Elaine Kasilag, setter Gyselle Sy, Siemens Dadang and returning Fil-American playmaker Iris Tolenada. Pocari Sweat tapped towering American imports Bree Mackie and Andrea Kacsits as foreign guest players.

And Vargas will still be part of their crew as far as Ty is concerned.

“There should be no expectations that she will be wearing another uniform aside from Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors for this coming conference,” he said.
