Early winners Laoag Power Smashers and Bureau of Customs clash in a battle for a share of the lead on Wednesday in the 13th V-League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Opening serve is slated at 6:00 p.m. and the match will air live over S+A channel 23 and S+A HD channel 166 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague.
The Power Smashers easily defeated Philippine Coast Guard, 25-8, 25-15, 25-16, last Saturday to begin its campaign while then Transformers behind Alyssa Valdez and Rosemari Vargas led BoC to a 25-23, 25-18, 25-22, win over University of the Philippines despite having its Thai imports stuck on the bench because of technicalities in their playing documents.
University of Sto. Tomas is in solo lead with 2-0 win-loss record.
“Dito masusubok talaga ‘yung team kumabaga dito namin makikita kung nandoon na talaga ‘yung jelling ng team,” said Laoag head coach Nes Pamilar.
Prolific scorers and new recruits Open Conference Most Valuable Player Grethcel Soltones and Jorelle Singh anchored the Power Smashers’ assault last game logging in 13 and 17 points, respectively.
Jema Galanza of Adamson and newcomer Aiko Urdas of National University will suit up for Laoag after skipping last game to play for their respective schools in the 79th UAAP beach volleyball tournament.
Soltones will face former BaliPure teammate Valdez in a showdown of NCAA and UAAP MVPs.
The three time UAAP MVP Valdez debuted in style with her new team, scoring 18 points with 14 digs while new scoring partner Rosemarie Vargas had 17 markers for BoC.
Thai imports Kanjana Kuthaisong and Nattanicha Jaisaen are yet to see action pending their completion of playing documents.
