Open Conference champion Pocari Sweat hopes to bounce back after an upset loss in its opening day assignment.
Pocari Sweat and slumping Philippine Coast Guard clash for a taste of first victory on Monday in the 13th V-League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Opening serve is at 4:00 p.m. and will air live over S+A channel 23 and S+A HD channel 166 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague.
The Lady Warriors dropped their opening day assignment in a five-set, 20-25, 25-22, 7-25, 25-22, 12-15, shocker over the all-Filipino Philippine Air Force last week in a rematch of the Open Conference finals series which Pocari Sweat won three months ago.
It was a sorry loss for the Lady Warriors, who kept most of its core intact and tapped American imports Bre Mackie and Andrea Kacsits to beef up their roster.
Mackie and Kacsits scored 17 and 11 points, respectively, carry the scoring load for Pocari Sweat but the support from the locals were missing.
Team captain Michele Gumabao scored 11 points but Open Conference Finals Most Valuable Player Myla Pablo had a quiet nine-points outing while Elaine Kasilag played only in the first set to score only two points.
But the Lady Warriors are favored to get the win this time as they face a squad which lost all of its first three games in straight sets.
The Lady Dolphins are struggling to find form and are yet to win a set in this conference.
Coast Guard need to squeeze out more from Samantha Dawson, Grenlen Malapit and Hazel Mea to avoid an early trip to the exit door.
