Pocari Sweat seeks second straight win against struggling UP
Pocari Sweat eyes its second win in a row.

After bouncing back mightily from an opening day setback, title favorite Pocari Sweat looks to spark a winning run when the Lady Warriors face a struggling University of the Philippines side on Saturday in the 13th V-League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

With its American import Bre Mackie and Andrea Kacsits with the help of team captain Michele Gumabao, the Open Conference champion Lady Warriors swept Philippine Coast Guard 25-17, 25-9, 25-16, last Monday erase a painful five-set loss to Philippine Air Force on their debut.

Pocari Sweat is tied with BaliPure with 1-1 slate.

Opening serve is at 6:00 p.m. and will air live over S+A channel 23 and S+A HD channel 166 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague.

Mackie and Gumabao are both playing consistently averaging 13.5 and 12.5 points per game with Kacsits providing solid defense in front of the net.

Open Conference Final MVP Myla Pablo is yet to come up with an explosive performance for the Lady Warriors. The match against the Lady Maroons could be the chance for the former National University star to get her groove going.

The Lady Maroons lost two of its last three matches including a 26-28, 19-25, 18-25, setback to unbeaten University of Sto. Tomas last Monday.

Diana Carlos has been churning out double-digit scoring for UP in their previous two matches but the rest of her teammates are having a hard time putting up their usual numbers.

Kathy Bersola, Collegiate Conference 1st Best Outside Spiker Isa Molde and Nicole Tiamzon need to step up to help the Lady Maroons get back on the winning track.
