Water Defenders hunt for third straight win
BaliPure tests the mettle of collegiate team University of the Philippines.

BaliPure seeks to carve its third straight victory and strengthen its bid for a spot in the semifinals in a showdown with University of the Philippines Saturday in the 13th V-League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The Purest Water Defenders and Lady Maroons take center court in the 4:00 p.m. game that will be shown via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/vleague and at 8:00 p.m. on ABS-CBN S+A channel 23.

BaliPure is tied at third to fourth spot with a 2-1 win-loss slate behind league-leading University of Sto. Tomas (5-1) and Bureau of Customs (3-1).

After absorbing an upset loss at the hands of the Tigresses in their debut, the Water Defenders collected two straight wins including a 25-22, 25-19, 25-21, demolition of Philippine Air Force last Monday.

American imports Kate Morrell and setter Kaylee Manns finally jelled with the locals led by former Ateneo de Manila stars Dzi Gervacio, Charo Soriano, Amy Ahomiro, setter Jem Ferrer and libero Denden Lazaro making BaliPure one of the favorite teams to win the crown.

UP, on the other hand, snapped a two-game losing skid with a 25-20, 27-25, 11-25, 25-20, win over Laoag for a 2-3 card with their victim and idle Philippine Air Force.

Veterans Nicole Tiamzon, Kathy Bersola, Diana Carlos, Marian Buitre, and Collegiate Conference 1st Best Outside Hitter Isa Molde need to double their effort facing a team with a pair of reinforcements to keep their semis hopes alive.
