From the three conferences magandang experience siya for us and nakita natin ang development ng mga plays namin and connections nga ng mga tao sa loob, hindi lang ng setter-spikers kundi ng lahat -- UP team captain Kathy Bersola
University of the Philippines’ chance of making the cut for the remaining two Final Four spots are already out of the Lady Maroons’ hands.
The Diliman-based squad with a 3-4 win-loss record to end the 13th V-League Reinforced Conference elimination round will need to pray for certain teams to lose their remaining matches for UP to force a playoff.
But their outside chance for a semis seat is already dim with BaliPure (3-1) and Bureau of Customs (3-2) looking to take their respective fourth win as they will still face listless Philippine Coast Guard in one of their remaining elims assignments.
“Pumasok man kami o hindi (sa semis) marami naman kaming natutunan,” said Lady Maroons skippers Kathy Bersola after UP shot down Philippine Air Force, 25-16, 25-20, 25-10, Monday at the PhilSports Arena.
The Lady Maroons played in all the three conferences of the league from the Open Conference, the Collegiate Conference where they won third and in the season-ending tournament.
“Up and down talaga siya eh, parang ‘yung mga wins namin maganda tapos ‘yung mga loss namin ang pangit talaga,” Bersola said. “Medyo process pa siya for us na ma-polish nga ang mga technical skills namin sa game and chemistry kasi nga bago ang setters.”
UP is using this exposure as part of the team’s build up for the 79th UAAP tournament starting late January.
Bersola said that they have learned a lot from their stint in the league that could help them prepare for the UAAP, where they target to equal or surpass their fourth place finish last season.
“Naka-build naman kami ng confidence from this conference even though may mga loss kami na nahirapan kami na mag-move on from those kasi nga mahirap talaga,” the graduating middle added.
“From the three conferences magandang experience siya for us and nakita natin ang development ng mga plays namin and connections nga ng mga tao sa loob, hindi lang ng setter-spikers kundi ng lahat,” Bersola said. “Going into UAAP all in all, maganda siyang build up for us.”
