BoC occupies third semifinals seat
Alyssa Valdez spearheaded Bureau of Customs' straight sets whipping of listless Philippine Coast Guard.

Bureau of Customs toyed with the hapless Philippine Coast Guard in a lopsided 25-18, 25-12, 25-18, victory to clinch the third semifinals berth in the the 13th V-League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Transformers bounced back from a straight sets loss to Pocari Sweat last Saturday to improve to 4-2 win-loss record for solo third spot behind early semifinalists University of Sto. Tomas (5-1) and the Lady Warriors (4-1).

"Pinag-usapan namin sa training 'yung first ball talaga. Kasi pag wala ka talagang first ball mapapagod 'yung mga wing spikers," said BoC coach Sherwin Meneses of the adjustements they made after their previous game. "So 'yung first ball lang talaga prinoblema namin. Pati 'yung mga wing spiker at utility talaga nag-focus kami sa receive."

BoC will close its elimination round campaign on Saturday against Philippine Air Force.

Conference leading scorer Alyssa Valdez and Thai guest player Kanjana Kuthaisong led the Transformers’ relentless offense that submitted the also-ran Lady Dolphins for the sixth straight match.

Valdez smashed 11 kills in her total of 14 points while adding six digs and excellent receptions for an all-around performance for the Transformers.

Kuthaisong scored all but one of her seven markers from attacks while Lilet Mabbayad ang Michicko Castañeda had five each for BoC.

The 0-6 Coast Guard will take on BaliPure on Nov. 2 to end its disappointing campaign.

Former Far Eastern University star Samantha Dawson finished with 11 points while Hazel Mea got six markers in a lost cause for the Lady Dolphins.
