Spikers' Turf, V-League All-Star Game set on Nov. 20
Spikers' Turf and V-League will have a fund-raising All-Star Game on November 20 for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Lawin.

Superstar Alyssa Valdez is stoked for the coming V-League and Spikers’ Turf All-Star Game set on November 20 at the PhilSports Arena.

Though the final lineup of the two teams in the women’s exhibition match is yet to be announced, Valdez is a shoo-in to be included in the shortlist of players that will compose one of the two 12-woman squads.

Proceeds of the All-Star Game will be donated to ABS-CBN Foundation for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Lawin.

The Spikers’ Turf exhibition match is set at 3:00 p.m. while the SVL match is at 6:00 p.m.

“Exciting ito na magsasama-sama ang lahat para makatulong,” said Valdez on Monday after the organizers of the V-League announced the event.

Valdez, who’s squad Bureau of Customs will face BaliPure on Wednesday in a do-or-die Game 3 of their semifinals series for the right to face Pocari Sweat in the Finals, even poked fun at reporters saying, “Dapat kasali rin kayo, kayo maglalaro then kami magko-cover at sulat ng stories ninyo.”

Philippine Air Force coach Jasper Jimenez, Laoag’s Nes Pamilar and BoC’s Sherwin Meneses will handle one team while the other women’s squad will be under Rommel Abella of Pocari Sweat, Kungfu Reyes of University of Sto. Tomas and University of the Philippines’ Jerry Yee.

The players that will compose each of the teams are the ones with the most impressive statistics in the Open, Collegiate and Reinforced Conferences.

Valdez in the Open and Reinforced Conferences tallied excellent numbers.

The Spiker’s Turf teams will be coached by Rhovyl Verayo of Philippine Air Force, National University’s Dante Alinsunurin and Norman Miguel on one side and Macky Carino of Cignal, Ateneo de Manila’s Oliver Almadro and Instituto Estetico Manila’s Jun Balubar on the other. Each squad will also be composed of 12 members.

“What we're working on right now is to get the final go-signal from the clubs and the schools to make sure that all 24 players (in V-League and Spikers’ Turf) will be able to play on November 20,” said Sports Vision General manager Ramon Martelino.

Fans will also get a chance to join their favorite players for some fun and games from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  All ticket holders of ringside and patron can go to center court to have the signature of the players and for some photo-op.
