Valdez reunites with former teammates in All-Star Game

Alyssa Valdez will share the same court once again with former teammates Bea De Leon, Dzi Gervacio and libero Denden Lazaro in the V-League All-Star Game.
Superstar Alyssa Valdez reunites with former Ateneo de Manila teammates in an exhibition volleyball match for a cause on November 20 in the 2016 V-League and Spikers’ Turf All-Star Game at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The former Queen Eagle shares the same court with Bea De Leon, Dzi Gervacio and libero Denden Lazaro when 24 of the best players in the league that played in the Open, Collegiate and Reinforced Conference gather in a charity event that will benefit the victims of Typhoon Lawin that is scheduled to tipoff at 5:15 p.m.
Valdez will play with Gervacio and Lazaro for the first time since they last saw action together for BaliPure in the Open Conference. The Phenom transferred to newcomer and Reinforced Conference finalist Bureau of Customs.
De Leon and Valdez last played together in local soil when Ateneo surrendered its back-to-back crown to archrival De La Salle in the 78th UAAP volleyball Finals last April.
The four will be joined by Laoag’s Jema Galanza and Wennethn Eulalio, Philippine Air Force’s Jocemer Tapic and Wendy Semana, EJ Laure of University of Sto. Tomas, BOC’s Femela Emnas and Elaine Kasilag of Pocari Sweat. The last member of the 12-man team is yet to be named.
Laoag coach Nes Pamilar, Air Force’s Jasper Jimenez and Sherwin Meneses of BoC will serve as the team’s coaching staff.
The other All-Star team will be handled by Rommel Abella of Pocari Sweat, Jerry Yee of UP and Kungfu Reyes of UST.
Ateneo de Manila setter Jia Morado and Pocari Sweat skipper Michelle Gumabao lead the squad with Myla Pablo, Gyzelle Sy and libero Melissa Gohing of the Lady Warriors, UP’s Kathy Bersola, Diana Carlos and Isa Molde, Cherry Rondina and Ria Meneses of UST, BaliPure’s Amy Ahomiro and Far Eastern University’s Toni Basas.
The Spikers’ Turf All-Star will start at 3:00 p.m.
Team A is composed of Open and Reinforced Conference champions Jessie Lopez, Louie Chavez, Reyson Fuentes, Jeffrey Malabanan and Mark Alfafara of Philippine Air Force, National University’s Ismail Fauzi and Bryan Bagunas, Cignal Edward Ybanez and Vince Mangulabnan, Berlin Paglinawan of Champion, Patrick Rojas of Army and Kheeno Franco of Instituto Estetico Manila. Calling the shots are Rhovyl Verayo of Air Force, Dante Alinsunurin of NU and Norman Miguel of Champion.
Team B will be bannered by Ateneo’s Mark Espejo, Ish Polvorosa and Rex Intal, De La Salle’s Raymark Woo and Geuel Asia, Cignal’s Sandy Montero, Ysay Marasigan and Peter Torres, Rodolfo Labrador of Air Force, Greg Dolor of IEM, Alfred Valbuena of UP and College of St. Benilde’s Jon Vic De Guzman. The coaches are Cignal’s Macky Carino, Oliver Almadro of Ateneo and Jun Balubar of IEM.
Fans will also get a chance to join their favorite players for some fun and games from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. All ticket holders of ringside and patron can go to center court to have the signature of the players and for some photo-op.
Four signed balls are up for bidding.
