Lady Stags go 5-0 to stay on top

San Sebastian College continued with its winning ways to remain unscathed for the solo lead in the 92nd NCAA women’s volleyball competition at The Arena in San Juan.
Then Lady Stags dismantled the listless Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals, 25-13, 25-20, 25-22, for their fifth straight win in as many games.
SSC-R is the only remaining unbeaten team after Lyceum of the Philippines stunned the defending champion College of St. Benilde in five sets early Tuesday.
Reigning back-to-back Most Valuable Player Grethcel Soltones finished with 12 points, all but one coming off attacks, and had plenty of help. Katherine Villegas had nine points while Irish Oliveros also scored nine in just two sets of action.
Joyce Sta. Rita was fielded only in the first two frames and had eight points including eight spikes in the Lady Stags’ total of 43 attacks. Vira Guillema did a great job orchestrating the team’s offense with 40 excellent sets.
EAC suffered its fifth straight loss in as many games tied with Mapua.
