Giant-killer Lady Pirates hunt for fourth win

Lyceum of the Philippines University faces winless Mapua Cardinals in 92nd NCAA women's volleyball competition's last playdate of the year.

After shocking defending champion College of St. Benilde in five sets the last time out, the pumped up Lyceum of the Philippines University Lady Pirates look to end 2016 on a high note against listless Mapua on Wednesday in the 92nd NCAA women's volleyball competition at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Pirates march into the scheduled 10:00 a.m. battle in search for its second straight victory and a fitting follow up to the Intramuros-based squad’s 25-22, 24-26, 25-18, 20-25, 15-10, win against the Lady Blazers last week.
LPU holds a 3-1 win-loss record and a win will put the Lady Pirates inside the top four as the league enters Christmas break.
Cherilyn Sindayen has been leading the way for LPU as she averaged 14 hits an outing while Czarina Pauline Orros and La Rainne Fabay have been contributing well with norms of 10 points apiece.
The Lady Cardinals are still in search of a first win after five outings.
Mapua was swept by Perpetual Help, 15-25, 7-25, 19-25, last week.
San Beda College (4-2) and Letran (0-5) collide in the other match at 11:30 a.m.
In men's action, San Beda (5-1) guns for the solo lead as it clashes with Letran (1-4) at 1:00 p.m. while LPU (2-2) and Mapua (2-3) face off at 8:30 a.m.
Letran (2-3) and San Beda (1-4) collide in the lone juniors match at 2:30 p.m.
