San Beda College climbed to solo third spot by breezing past the hapless Letran Lady Knights, 25-19, 25-13, 25-15, Wednesday as the Lionesses closed their 2016 campaign on a high note in the 92nd NCAA women’s volleyball competition at The Arena in San Juan.

Banking on the explosion of Nieza Viray, the Mendiola-based squad improved its win-loss record to 5-2 at third spot behind unbeaten San Sebastian College (6-0) and reigning champion College of St. Benilde (5-1).

Viray uncorked 13 points with 10 coming off kills while third season-leading scorer Francesca Racraquin dropped 11 attacks in her total of 12 markers for San Beda, which will resume action on January 5 against CSB after the holiday break.

The Lionesses rained down 37 attack points and took advantage of Letran’s terrible reception to score 11 aces.

Mikaela Lopez got seven points to lead the Lady Knights, who joined Emilio Aguinaldo College and Mapua down the cellar winless in six outings.
