3BB Nakornnont sweeps King-Bangkok, Valdez skips match
Alyssa Valdez skipped 3BB Nakornnont's straight sets win over King-Bangkok
Filipina volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez spent what was supposed to her debut in the Thailand Volleyball League cheering from the bleachers as her club team 3BB Nakornnont swept King-Bangkok, 26-24, 25-20, 25-23, Sunday.
Valdez was in her club colors but was not on the bench when 3BB asserted its mastery over their rivals to improve its record to 5-3.
The former three-time UAAP Most Valuable Player joined Thai and Filipino supporters watching the match from the sidelines and could see action in the team’s next game on February 4 against powerhouse team Bangkok Glass led by Pleumjit Thinkaow.
Valdez’s debut was marred by a delay on the release of her International Transfer Certificate, which she received just hours before game time.
King-Bangkok dropped to 2-6 and absorbed another straight sets loss to 3BB after a 25-13, 25-2, 25-16, whipping last January 7.
