BVR on Tour 2017 recap
Back in Leg 6 of the 2017 BVR on Tour, Cherry Rondina showed another demonstration of her beach volleyball prowess as she partnered with Jinggay Bangad to win gold, beating the Viray twins of San Beda in the final. (BVR)

Oh would you look at that, 2017 is already halfway done and Beach Volleyball Republic already wrapped up seven (!) legs all over the Philippines.

Yes, seven.

Really, seven?

Yes, seven!

Starting over at Ilocos Sur back in January before it's final stop in Cebu just earlier this month, BVR heads back up to the north to wrap up its 2017 tour.

Anguib Beach in Sta. Ana Cagayan once again plays host to BVR, this time for the 2017 National Championships but before that, let's review the seven previous legs for this year first.

Yes, there are seven. Crazy, right?

 


LEG 1 - Cabugao Beach, Ilocos Sur

In women's play, the dream pair of Charo Soriano and Bea Tan won an all-BVR final after taking down Dzi Gervacio and Jackie Estoquia.

The Tiger duo of KR Guzman and Anthony Arbasto beat Jeremiah Barrica and Kevin Hadlocon in a sort of UAAP Finals rematch to win the men's division.

 


LEG 2 - Tondalingan Beach, Dagupan

After taking the title at Cabugao with Charo Soriano, Bea Tan won the Dagupan edition of BVR on Tour with Dzi Gervacio in a clean sweep.

In men's play, Tiger Spikers KR Guzman and Anthony Arbasto repeated over FEU's Jeremiah Barrica and Kevin Hadlocon to make it 2-0 for the year.

 


LEG 3 - Lakawon Island, Negros Occidental

Dzi Gervacio won her second straight leg after teaming up with Kassie Gormley, beating Mae Demontano and Jackie Estoquia of Team Iloilo in an epic three-set final.

In men's play, a new champion was finally crowned after FEU's Jeremiah Barrica and Kevin Hadlocon defeated Iloilo's Belson Ocampo and Jason Labuyo.

 


LEG 4 - Kahuna Beach, La Union

KR Guzman and Anthony Arbasto regained the BVR title, erasing a  twice-to-beat disadvantage in the Final to beat FEU's Jeremiah Barrica and Kevin Hadlocon again. 3-1 in favor of UST.

In the women's division, Bea Tan partnered with Amanda Villanueva to win her third leg of the year.

 


LEG 5 - MOA Sands

Japan's Keiko Urata and Chiyo Suzuki came all the way to Manila to win the fifth BVR on Tour leg, making quick work of the Team Perlas tandem of Rupia Inck and Bea Tan in the Final.

In men's play, FEU's Jeremiah Barrica and Kevin Hadlocon finally put one over KR Guzman and Anthony Arbasto, scoring a pulasting 18-21, 26-24, 15-13 victory to win their second leg this year.

 


LEG 6 - Currimao, Ilocos Norte

In the women's collegiate division, Cherry Rondina showed another demonstration of her beach volleyball prowess as she partnered with Jinggay Bangad to win gold, beating the Viray twins of San Beda in the final.

Former national team player Jade Becaldo and Rommel Pepito emerged victorious in the men's open division, eliminating two foreign teams on their way to the title.

Finally, Malaysia's Mohd Aizzzat Zokri and Raja Nazmi beat FEU's Jeremiah Barrica and Kevin Hadlocon for the men's collegiate title.

 


LEG 7 - Basdaku White Beach, Cebu

UNO-R's Erjane Magdato and Alexa Polidario took care of business at the Basdaku White Beach in Moalboal, crowning themselves as winners of the final BVR on Tour 2017 leg before the national championships.

In men's play, Liloan Redline's Jade Becaldo and Rommel Pepito capped an impressive tournament by beating NU's Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad in the Finals, making it back-to-back leg wins for the Cebu pair.

The 2017 Beach Volleyball Republic National Championships will happen on July 28-30 at Aguib Beach.
