BVR Champs would like to remind you to stay off from drugs
PO1 Lourdilyn Catubag and PO1 Karen Quilario of team Tagum-PNP are your new BVR National Champions. They would like it if you stayed off from drugs.

Regardless of what you think about the current administration's ongoing war on drugs, one thing is for certain: drugs are not cool.

Banned narcotics are banned for a reason. They won't do you any good.

That's exactly what newly-crowned Beach Volleyball Republic National Champions Karen Quilario and Lourdilyn Catubag would like to remind all of us and the pair of policewomen from Davao would greatly appreciate it if all of us would just say no.

After Team Tagum-PNP plowed through the competition at Anguib Beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan over the weekend to win the 2017 BVR National Title, PO1 Catubag and PO1 Quilario have set a perfect example of great things you can do if you stay off from drugs.

"Iwas po talaga sa droga, yun po talaga yung pino-promote namin kaya kami naglalaro dito," Catubag told ABS-CBN Sports.

"Para mapa-kita sa mga kabataan na mas maiging maglaro kesa ma-involve sa drugs," she added.

Considering that Tagum-PNP took down some pretty strong teams at Anguib Beach, they're actually right. The two officers are certainly not wrong.

Aside from beating quality teams, another factor that makes Team Tagum's National title win is the fact that Quilario and Catubag are both on-field officers in Davao and the PNP sponsor their trips to tournaments like the BVR.

They do have their own tournaments back home and they have their own court to stay sharp. Quilario and Catubag competed in the 2016 National Finals at MOA but the pair didn't make it out of the quarterfinals.

Playing a sport like beach volleyball, which has a pretty demanding schedule, and being police officers as well, it's all a delicate balancing act for Catubag and Quilario.

It's not a reason to stop though.

"Pag may extra time, kunwari off. Meron din po kasi kaming beach volley court dun sa Tagum so pag may vacant time kami, nagpa-practice talaga kami para hindi naman ma-behind," Catubag said.

You can catch Tagum-PNP's championship victory on August 14 as ABS-CBN S+A channel 23 will air the 2017 BVR National Championship from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
