BACOLOD CITY -- Cignal veteran Rachel Anne Daquis won’t be seeing action for at least two weeks.
The former Philippine Superliga Most Valuable Player skipped the HD Spikers’ out-of-town game in Bacolod City Saturday to rest because of a left leg muscle spasm.
Head coach George Pascua told reporters that Daquis, who was behind Cignal’s bench in the 2017 PSL Grand Prix’s ‘Spike on Tour’ in a sorry five-set loss to Cocolife held at the packed University of St. La Salle gym here, was nursing an injury she sustained a week ago against Petron.
“May muscle spasm (left) siya dahil dun sa paghabol niya ng bola last game (against Petron),” said Pascua, whose squad absorbed its second straight defeat in a 25-19, 26-24, 25-27, 16-25, 9-15, decision against the Asset Managers.
Last week against her former team Blaze Spikers, Daquis went after the ball in the third set and successfully saved it but not after hitting the baseline ad board almost almost diving on the statisticians’ table.
The HD Spikers eventually won the said rally after Daquis’ heroics but unfortunately lost the battle, 25-19, 9-25, 22-25, 26-28.
The former Far Eastern University standout even posted a funny photo of her while saving the ball with a 'hugot line' caption on her Twitter account.
Daquis is expected to again sit out Cignal’s game on Saturday against Iriga City to be held at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.
“Advice ng doctor rest muna although din naman siya ganon kalala pero kailangan talaga i-rest,” said Pascua. “Two weeks recovery yun.”
The HD Spikers are currently tied with Generika-Ayala with a 1-3 win-loss record.
