Defending champion Foton ripped apart a young Victoria Sports-University of Sto. Tomas side, 25-8, 25-22, 25-16, to close its elimination round campaign in the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Tuesday.
Fresh from a record-setting 41-point production in a five-set win against F2 Logistics, Serbian sensation Sara Klisura once again led the Tornadoes to victory for a 7-1 win-loss slate at solo top spot.
Klisura punched in 13 points including 10 off attacks while adding seven digs and six excellent receptions in an all-around performance for three-peat seeking Foton, which will await its final placing in the quarterfinals. Idle Petron and F2 Logistics are at second to third spots with identical 6-1 slate.
In the quarterfinals, the top seed will take on the eighth seed while the second seed will clash with the seventh seed; the third seed will face the sixth seed; and the fourth seed will collide with the fifth seed.
Jaja Santiago scored 13 points while EJ Laure had nine markers, seven off kills. CJ Rosario finished with eight while Maika Ortiz and Montenegrin Dragana Perunicic combined for 13 points in the Tornadoes 75-minute drubbing of the Victoria Sports-UST.
The also-ran Tigresses absorbed their seventh loss in as many outings.
Dimdim Pacres led the Espana-based squad with eight points, Shanned Palec had six while Japanese import Yukie Inamasu was limited to four points as the much taller Foton squad clogged the net, putting up 15 kills blocks including five courtesy of Rosario.
UST will close its campaign on Saturday against Cignal.
