Import Marissa Field returned with a bang while Ukrainian Bohdana Anisova dropped 35 points to power Sta. Lucia Realty past Cocolife in a come-from-behind, 23-25, 22-25, 25-12, 25-23, 15-7, win Tuesday in the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Anisova wreaked havoc with 29 attack points spiced up with four service aces and a pair of kill blocks as the Lady Realtors arrested a two-game losing streak to tie idle Iriga City at 2-5 win-loss record at seventh to eighth spot.
Canadian reinforcement Field returned to action after missing two games because of a knee injury and chipped in 20 markers off 13 kills, five kill blocks and two aces.
“Malaki (na nakabalik si Field). Mahirap maglaro na dalawa lang ang import mo and tatlo sa kalaban, malaking disadvantage natin,” said SLR coach Jerry Yee, who is looking to steer his team to a good position in the knockout quarterfinals. “Malaki ang na-contribute niya pero nag-step up din ang mga locals. Nagpalit tayo ng locals and naayos natin ng kaunti.”
Fil-American Mar-Jana Phillips scored 13 while the trio of Jonah Sabete, Jannine Navarro and Pam Lastimosa combined for 10 markers. Djanel Cheng had 31 excellent sets.
Pumped up after taking the third and fourth sets after a sluggish start, the Lady Realtors built a 7-5 lead in the decider. After Cocolife chopped its deficit to one, 7-6, SLR blasted a six straight points capped by a smash by Anisova for a 13-6 lead.
American import Shar Lei Manu-Olevao stopped the bleeding for the Asset Managers with a kill before Anisova pushed SLR at match point with an attack.
Lastimosa sealed the match with a kill block on Nene Bautista to end the two-hour, 15-minute duel.
Getting their bearing back after taking the third set, the Lady Realtors engaged the Asset Managers to a nip and tuck battle in the fourth set.
Anisova broke a 23-23 deadlock with a crosscourt hit before forcing a deciding frame with a thundering kill.
Cocolife dropped to 3-4 slate tied with Cignal and Generika-Ayala at fourth to sixth spot despite the 30-point effort of Manu-Olevao.
American Taylor Milton had 13 points while Bautista chipped in 11 for the Asset Managers. Veteran libero Denden Lazaro had 16 excellent receptions and 14 digs while setter Tina Salak tallied 22 excellent sets in a lost cause.
In the quarterfinals, the top seed will take on the eighth seed while the second seed will clash with the seventh seed; the third seed will face the sixth seed; and the fourth seed will collide with the fifth seed.
