Tigers start year right by winning BVR Ilocos Sur

KR Guzman finally got some sort of revenge on his senior Jade Becaldo.
The two were in a fierce showdown last year for the 2017 BVR National Championship. Becaldo's team Cebu ended up taking the title after three epic sets at Anguib Beach in Cagayan.
Fast forward to Sunday and with different teammates, it's Guzman that took it to Becaldo, winning the opening leg of BVR on Tour 2018.
As the UST Thunder, Guzman and Henry Pecana beat Becaldo and Fort Libres, 21-18, 21-13, in the Finals of the Ilocos Sur leg at Ichthus Beach in Magsingal, earning themselves a cool P50,000 as grand prize.
Brian Nordberg and Giovanni Musillo of Hong Kong finished third after a tough three-set affair against Jessie Lopez and RanRan Abdilla of Airforce.
In women's play, Air Force beat two Perlas teams on their wo capturing this year's first leg.
The tandem of Judy Caballejo and Coyah Abanto took care of Charo Soriano and Dzi Gervacio in the semifinals before scoring a tough 21-15, 23-21 win over Bea Tan and Amanda Villanueva in the Final.
On top of the championship, Caballejo and Abanto took home a prize of P50,000 while Tan and Villanueva settled for P30,000.
UST's Babylove Barbon and Genesa Eslapor won third in the women's division.
