LVPI is saddened by this but at the same time respect the decision of Creamline -- LVPI vice president Peter Cayco.
Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. received Wednesday night Creamline’s formal letter of request to pull out the club’s top players Alyssa Valdez and setter Jia Morado in the national team’s participation in the Philippine Superliga Invitational slated to begin Saturday.
The country’s volleyball association announced last week that the Nationals will play as a guest squad in the Invitational as part of the team’s preparation for the Jakarta Palembang Asian Games in August and in the AVC Asia Cup in Thailand in September.
Valdez and Morado are part of the 12 regular team members of the 14-woman lineup submitted to the Philippine Sports Commission that will participate in the Asiad.
“LVPI is saddened by this but at the same time respect the decision of Creamline,” said LVPI vice president Peter Cayco.
Valdez and Morado are vital cogs in the Cool Smashers’ campaign for a breakthrough title in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference.
“I have informed the coaching staff that Valdez and Morado would not be available so they can make the necessary adjustments,” Cayco added.
Creamline is already in the best-of-three semifinals after claiming an outright Final Four seat following a great preliminary round run.
