The Philippines will try to end its AVC Asian Cup campaign on a high note in a rematch against pool play victim Kazakhstan on Saturday in the classification round for ninth place.
Game time is at 5:00 p.m. at the Korat Chatchai Hall in in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
The Filipinas, who are relegated to the Challenge Cup after falling short of a quarterfinals stint, will try to salvage some sense of pride against the only team that they defeated during the group stage.
Behind the 16-point efforts each by Alyssa Valdez and Mylene Paat, the PHI hurdled Kazakhstan’s developmental team, 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 25-17, at the end of Pool C group stage last Tuesday.
The Filipinas slid to the battle for ninth place after suffering a 13-25, 26-24, 7-25, 21-25 defeat at the hands of a young South Korean squad Friday.
Kazakhstan has yet to win a game in the tournament.
