Marck Espejo made his presence felt in the Japanese V. Premier League men’s division after an impressive debut with Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler on Saturday.
The former Ateneo de Manila University standout displayed his power and strength in his first stint as an import in Japan but all of his efforts went into naught as Weisse Adler fell short, 15-25, 20-25, 19-25, to Toray Arrows.
Still, the five-time UAAP Most Valuable Player put up 16 points off 12 kills and four kill blocks for Weisse Adler.
Oita Miyoshi will look to bounce back on Sunday against Nagano Trident.
Espejo is one of three homegrown Filipino talents playing in Japan. Sisters Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat are set to make their debut in the women’s division for Ageo Medics and Toray Arrows, respectively.
