Jaja Santiago marches back into battle with the Saitama Ageo Medics in the Japan Women’s V. Premier League on Saturday.
Filipina star Jaja Santiago and her club, the Saitama Ageo Medics, shoot for the solo lead in the Japan Women’s V. Premier League on Saturday against the Denso Airybees.
The Ageo Medics swept their first two assignments for a share of the early lead alongside Hitachi.
The six-foot-five Santiago was impressive in her first two outings with the Ageo Medics as the National University product averaged 12 points per outing.
A starter for the Ageo Medics, Santiago delivered 12 markers off 10 attacks and two kill blocks in their opening day four-set win over Kurobe. She followed it up with nine kills, two blocks and an ace as the Ageo Medics swept the PFU Blue Cats.
Meanwhile, Jaja’s sister Dindin Santiago-Manabat marches into battle with the Toray Arrows against the Okayama Seagulls.
Santiago-Manabat rode the bench in the Arrows’ straight sets loss to powerhouse Hisamitsu Springs last week.
In the men’s division, Marck Espejo’s club Oita Miyoshi squares off with FC Tokyo with both teams looking for their first win.
Espejo displayed his fine form for the Weisse Adler but the Ateneo de Manila University product’s efforts were not enough to save Oita Miyoshi from dropping four straight games in as many outings.
FC Tokyo is winless in three matches.
