Veteran libero Denden Lazaro transfers to Petron after getting released by Cocolife.
Petron made its intention clear.
The Blaze Spikers are dead serious in keeping their Philippine Superliga Grand Prix title.
Petron made a recruitment coup after signing veteran libero Denden Lazaro to beef up its floor defense.
Cocolife team manager Joshua Ylaya announced the transfer of the national team member to the five-time champion Blaze Spikers after two years of service with the Asset Managers.
“Denden is a person of high character and a consummate pro. She proved that she could still play at a high level after helping us reach the semifinals in the Grand Prix last year. So, with a heavy heart, we announce her transfer to a new club and we wish her well in her quest for her first PSL crown," said Ylaya of Lazaro, who reported to Petron's training session on Monday.
At Petron, Lazaro is expected to provide grit and spunk at the defensive end, especially now that Buding Duremdes will suit up for Far Eastern University in the UAAP, which will open its 81st season next month.
Lazaro will join fellow national team members Mika Reyes, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Frances Molina and All-Filipino Conference MVP Rhea Dimaculangan with Americans Stephanie Niemer and Katherine Bell serving as reinforcements.
Ylaya also announced that Cocolife had acquired the services of middle blocker Amy Ahomiro and defense specialist Bang Pineda for the next conference.
