Cargo Movers, Lady Realtors win debut games
F2 Logistics swept Generika-Ayala to open its campaign in the 2019 PSL All-Filipino Conference.

New recruit Kalei Mau wasn’t available, but F2 Logistics still took care of business as it dominated Generika-Ayala in straight sets, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17, to kick off their bid in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on a high note Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Mau, the prized Filipino-American spiker, was limited into a mere cheerleader as the Cargo Movers crushed the Lifesaver.

Team manager Hollie Reyes said they are giving Mau a little more time to adjust and study the system of head coach Ramil de Jesus.

Still, the connection of current De La Salle University stars worked as skipper Aby Marano provided the defense with five of the Cargo Movers’ 11 blocks.

Maraño delivered 15 points off nine spikes, five blocks and an ace, while Ara Galang nailed 10 kills for 11 points laced up with 11 digs.

Majoy Baron and Desiree Cheng were also instrumental with eight points apiece as well as Kianna Dy returning from knee injury with seven markers.

"Maganda sa side namin, at least may La Salle connection, yun yung advantage,” said de Jesus.

Meanwhile, Sta. Lucia spoiled the debut of Marinerang Pilipina, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23, to kick off its campaign on a high note.

Filipino-American MJ Philips provided the offense, delivering 22 points and 16 digs for the Lady Realtors.

Team captain Pam Lastimosa and Amanda Villanueva chipped in 11 points apiece while Rachel Austero added 10 markers on top of the game-winning attack.

After taking a two-set lead and holding a 19-14 cushion in the third set, the Lady Realtors flirted with disaster as the Lady Skippers uncorked a 9-1 run to take a 23-20 lead.

But the Lady Realtors fought back with five straight points with four coming from Phillips and Austero.

Cesca Racraquin had 12 points laced up with 21 digs and nine excellent receptions while Judith Abil and Dimdim Pacres added 11 and 10 markers, respectively, for the Lady Skippers.

After dominating the first set, the Cargo Movers needed to escape a neck-and-neck encounter late in the second set only holding a precarious 19-18 lead before Maraño and Galang towed their team for a two-set lead.

F2 Logistics caught fire in the third with a fiery 18-11 spread before Generika-Ayala scored four straight points to make it a three-point game.

But the Cargo Movers vaunted their killer instincts scoring seven of the last nine points with substitute Aduke Ogunsanya providing the back-to-back winning points, a quick attack and an ace.

Fiola Ceballos was the lone bright spot with 10 points while Libero Kath Arado had 17 digs and seven excellent receptions for the Lifesavers.
