The Philippine Under-23 women’s national team made a gallant stand, but 3BB Nakornnont’s firepower was just too much as the Filipinas fell, 20-25, 12-25, 15-25, on Saturday in the 2019 Thailand Open Sealect Tuna Volleyball Championships at the V Sommai Gymnasium in Sisaket.
After a humiliating loss in their debut to Japanese powerhouse Okayama Seagulls from Japan on Friday, the Filipinas had a better showing this time.
The Nationals opened the match on fire and even showed moments of brilliance until midway the first set against 3BB Nakornnont backed by members of the Thai national squad before losing steam in the end.
After getting a feel of how the Filipinas play, the Thais were quick to adjust and dominated the next two frames to complete the sweep.
The young Pinay squad, despite their two losses, kept their heads held up high and will return to the country carrying with them valuable experience playing in international level.
